Hi

I've been having trouble with angled walls, and to be honest the property wasn't exactly a complex shape. I've posted an image below to show how simple it it. However, I wasted an hour at the property and ended up abandoning any hope of a proper DEA drawing. The infuriating thing is that there seems to be no logic involved in how the programme responds to shapes like these. I can only assume I'm making some basic errors. I have just had a play around on the desktop version and sometimes I get it right, but most times it just doesn't work out.

I have approached this drawing by constructing the hall first, and then trying to draw the rooms off it. It appears to be hit or miss as to whether I am given the option to 'add' segments when creating the other rooms, and more times than not I don't get that option.

Is there a hard and fast rule for drawing this simple diagram? While I'm messing around on the desktop version I can work quite quickly, and deleting rooms that won't 'fit' is easy enough because I'm not bothered about measurements or scale. However, when drawing it on the pda the other day, I was having to delete rooms which had been measured precisely and which had had windows and radiators added, in addition to the EPC data that I'd input.

Help please!

Hi,

Ok, have a look at the video attached, it should show the best order to do the property.

You are correct, start with the hallway first, then create the rooms from the hallway.

Best bit of advice: always create the rooms from the angled wall, even if the door isn't on the angle.

You should see this in the video for the first room from the hall.

To do that, simple click on the angled wall, and choose create room.

Hope this helps!
Kind regards,

Thanks James, the advice about creating the rooms from the angled wall is particularly helpful.
