Resetting your Pocket PC
When you turn your Pocket PC off, it simply goes into standby, rather than fully shutting down like a desktop PC.
The method for resetting (otherwise known as rebooting) a Pocket PC varies from model to model, but most of them work this way:
| |
|
Locate the reset hole on your Pocket PC. This is either under, behind or on the side of your Pocket PC, and is just big enough for you to insert the tip of your stylus. |
| |
|
Put your stylus in the hole and take it straight back out again. Leaving it in for several seconds will wipe your Pocket PC clean. |
If your model doesn't have a reset hole, you will need to consult your Pocket PC manual - some models need you to hold down a combination of buttons.
Why reset your Pocket PC?
After a program on your Pocket PC has gone wrong (either The Mobile Agent or some other program) your Pocket PC could become unstable. Just like with a desktop PC, you may need to reboot before it works normally again.
What's the difference between a soft and hard reset?
A soft reset is the equivalent of rebooting a desktop PC. This is the method shown above.
A hard reset is more serious - it will wipe all the memory in your Pocket PC, removing any programs you have installed and any files you have saved. Do not do a hard reset unless you have saved all your work.
